I disagree! I flew helicopters in the Army for 20 years, over 6000 hours, two tours in Vietnam. Shot down twice and walked away without a scratch. I feel safer in a helicopter than a fixed wing. Should anything go wrong (short of losing the main rotor system) you can land the thing on a dime. No need for long clear strips of land.
