No. It is just a tool I developed.

All you need is some way to write. If we do November Natural Novelling here, that is, which it does seem we are. There will be (and has been in the past) a counter where you can add your words on WdC.

The Excel thing was because some people wanted to replicate the NaNo experience, so I just did a quick one. Not compulsory, but something for those who want it.
