The voices in my head.

When I first started writing, I would only write when inspired, which lead to it taking up to ten years to finish a novel.

These days I brainstorm first. If I stop feeling inspired while thinking about the story, I wander away to do something else, which replenishes the well of creativity. By the time I sit down to write, all my scene notes are there to keep me going.
