As "worst experiences" go it's pretty tame, however... The bus taking me and a bunch of brand new U.S. Army enlistees from the Federal Building in downtown Denver to Stapleton Airport for our various flights to basic training had to deal with ridiculous traffic. As a result, my plane enjoyed an on-time departure - while my fellow Missouri-bound soldier and I watched the status line blink out at the check-in gate.

Being late for Basic Training is not the way to start your career.


A favorite handle overlaying a US Army shoulder patch I proudly wore for many years.
