I was talking to my mum about this. She said in the 60s and 70s there was rubbish everywhere, then it sort of faded in the 80s and 90s (we have a great recycling money scheme here) as kids were taught at schools about it and there were frequent emu parades, and comnunity service orders involved those being punished cleaning, but she reckons it's got worse again this century (community service orders no longer involve cleaning). |
