Australian Open? No. I am not a huge fan of tennis (although I have met Lleyton Hewett a few times). So, must sees. Uluru (FKA Ayer's Rock), Northern Territory. Can't climb it any longer, but seeing it at sunrise and sunset is amazing. Port Arthur, Tasmania. the most stark reminder of the convict start of 70% of the country. The Great Barrier Reef, Queensland. And get in soon as successive Queensland governments have slowly begun destroying it. Rottnest Island, Western Australia. See quokkas up close and personal. Kangaroo Island, South Australia. Best beaches, best honey and some amazing scenery. Now, you may notice, I have ignored Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House and Melbourne. Well, I think Sydney is ugly, over-rated and the people tend to be unpleasant. And Melbourne is fine, just dull... unless you like sport, in which case, it is the only place to go, especially end of cricket/tennis, start of football(s), netball seasons. |
