In answer to Dec. 6th question...
In the 1960s I received a Chatty Cathy doll with a pull string that made her play recorded comments or cry. My brother (12 yrs my senior) was home for Christmas break from college. He had slept on the couch, didn't wake up as the rest of the sisters were opening their presents. I put Chatty Cathy near his sleeping head... pulled the cord. Chatty Cathy screamed a distraught cry. He opened one bloody shot eye... "Get that THING away from me!"
