I started out with an idea of a story about a dragon, did World Weaver exercises to accomplish an idea of bandits for antagonist. Then started Prep and it went uphill from there. I had a setting and friends and more. A plot. Glad it worked out for you and you can fill in all those holes too that are hidden in there. There's still time.
