October Novel Prep Challenge

Before the Autism spectrum disorder was first described in the 1980s, this kid would've been diagnosed with Aspbergers syndrome or Savant syndrome. They're bright, but they really don't adhere to social norms or pick up on non-verbal cues.

But then again, until fairly recently kids on the spectrum or with some sort of disability that made them different were institutionalized in this country. Often ending up in jail or on the streets with a drug habit as adults.

We've made strides forward but anyways. I think between you and stevengepp's replies; I might have to write a story about this kid with high functioning autism as well as the antagonist at LHS. Just because they're both so interesting.
