Back in the prehistory of my day, buses had an opening at their rear quarter with a vertical pole to help people get on and off. When they were late and the bus was already moving off, everyone would run and jump on to it using this convenience. As did I. But the really dangerous thing was to ride up behind the bus, reach out and grab the pole and let the bus pull you along. Heck, why pedal when there are easier (and faster) ways of getting there?
