Lots of things were dangerous. Probably the same as today. I rode my horse and walked my dog in the woods near our home. My dad told me to stay out of the woods because there were hobos around but, I never listened. I rode my horse on the roads and one time was run off the road by a large truck. The horse jumped sideways across a ditch and kept us safe as the vehicle zoomed past. We had a very large high barn originally meant for dairy farming and hay storage. It had large beams in the upper part.I use to climb up on them and walk across the barn or sit on them and and contemplate whatever. Probably 20 or 30 feet in the air. Of course, climbing the maple trees in the front yard was fun too. Kids on a farm often explore the world without fear. apondia#1781748 |
