Ooh, don't get me started I see irises, (blue, yellow, white) with the scent of sugar cookies; pink redbuds; the puffy white balls of Bradford pears covered in short lived blossoms that for some reason smell like fish ( I hear the sweet song of robins, the sharp calls of bluejays, and the buzzing of bumblebees and the distant drone of lawnmowers. And I try to avoid touching the spring slime bugs that hide themselves in a wad of foam as they metamorphosize, or whatever it is they're doing The velvety rose petals are much more attractive to the fingers, as our David Austin roses always bloomed best in the cool of the spring. |
