Question of the Day!

The Rodney King riots. I lived in the suburbs of L.A., and I thought when I was nine I thought we lived soooo far away. I couldn't understand what the big deal was. Needless to say, I was shocked that it caused our school field trip to be cancelled. I couldn't figure out why the adults were so tense. Looking back at how close a lot of the violence was - and how atrocious the acts were that caused the riots - it was (and honestly remains) a much bigger issue than I could have guessed at that age.
