To say that anything is the last time, I would have to know the future. That would imply a certainty to the date of our ultimate end that is not given to us. Obviously, I know what you're really asking, but this seemed to me a way to avoid having to dig around in my memory for something that I did for the first time and have not done since. Even then, it would have to be the most recent of such initial actions and, with my memory, there's no guarantee of that being true. There must be hundreds of firsts and never sinces in my past, as "I'll try anything - once" has been one of my life's mottos, but establishing the latest is an impossible task. So my resort to flippancy is justified, I think.
