I agree with you, but not all of it is unjust fear, I'm afraid.
Just last week a little girl in Texas was murdered while walking to school. These things happen all the time and all over the country.

When I was a kid, we ran all over the place, and as long as we were home when the street lights came on, we were good. Things are no longer the same.
