Some Other World by Sir Elton John. I first heard it playing over the credits of Fergully:The Last Rainforest. It was the first song of his that I heard where I consciously knew it was him singing it that wasn't specifically for a movie soundtrack, like The Lion King. Though I haven't listened to a ton of Elton John's music, that one is a favorite and will remain so.

If I had You by Adam Lambert. While I remember his run on American Idol, I was never really into the show and didn't really pay that much attention to the contestants. Two of my younger cousins did watch the show and had become fans of his. They had me listen to this song right about the time his first CD (which this song was on) came out, either just before or just after. I was pretty hooked and bought the CD not long after.
