I've been called several times and only selected once to sit for a trial. Mind you, I worked as a legal secretary for several years before retiring and was often dismissed from serving. The one time I was selected, I was the "spare" juror, in case one of the other jurors was strickened with illness. At the end of the trial, the jurors were all presented with a thank you and a certificate for service. It was later I received a phone call from the judge's assistant asking me my thoughts on the process. Now I'm almost 70 and doubt that I will ever be called upon again to serve.
