The case sends a clear message that parents can be and will be held accountable for the actions of their children. I find this acceptable as long as it is proven that the parents should have been aware of their child's state of mind and took no reasonable actions to avert adverse behaviors. To a certain extent, this is a bit of a slippery slope. For example, if a child drives drunk and has a car accident that involves fatalities, is the parent responsible because they provided the car? |
