You could pick on the date of your scene. Yes, those are important dates too as the character might go on holiday in middle of the investigation. Or something important explodes on that day. Just throwing ideas around. I did mine in a linear fashion. Those memories don't have dates attached to them. Hmm speaking of an AI... Alien dates are different than planet dates.
