My sis ter was bitten by a white tipped spider in 1998. The bite was on the side of her thigh. The pus-filled wound put her in hospital for a few days - we looked after my 2 yr old niece; imagine if she'd been bitten! - and took months to stop oozing. To this day she has a scar about 3 inches across on her leg.

But this is Australia...
