A ton of trees. And a ton of people willing to defend those trees. Lots of wildlife in general, but really fantastic wildlife spots within 5 minutes in any direction, all on protected land (again, tree people). Too far away from the next "big" city for it to impact us much; not so far away as to be completely inaccessible if you want to have a few more things to do. I suppose if you were a sociologist, the random violent crime rate that went from nil over 5 years to 6 over two months is probably fairly fascinating. ![]() In our defence, none of the perpetrators were from here. Not that this makes any of us sleep better at night. ![]() Back to good things....uh, two maple syrup farms within 20 minutes, and generally "I'll live my life, you live yours" attitudes. Hell, even the neighbour we hated wasn't actually malicious. He was just living his dream, ignorant as we thought his behaviour was. He wasn't actually hurting anyone, and made the best use of his small yard for what he wanted out of life. We really didn't like the cut of his jib (or his Speedo *shudders*, so we moved). ![]() |
