I think the population growth would boggle their mind... the world population has more than doubled since 1970, and while China, India, and the United States are still the first, second, and third most populous countries, the United States' population has only increased by about 140 million, China's has population has increased by over 600 million, and India's population has exploded with the addition of nearly nearly 1 billion people since 1970.

It'd probably also surprise them to find out that the USSR, Yugoslavia, and Czechoslovakia all dissolved into several smaller countries, and that there's only one Vietnam now instead of a separate North Vietnam and South Vietnam.

And if you showed them that information by looking it up on your smartphone right there in the hospital, it'd probably send them right back into a coma.
