I suppose that would depend on the task being asked and the circumstances in which it happens. Some things I can compromise on, but some lines should never be crossed.
No part of my current job would require me to go against my morals. However, when I was teaching, there were times where I was asked to pass a student who did not earn the grade or comprehend the material being taught. I could not, in good faith, pass a student in these circumstances, as my job was to teach them. I refused to perform the task, which resulted in numerous meetings with angry parents and coaches and an extremely uncomfortable work environment. I left that particular school district at the end of that year, as I could not work for anyone who would push me to go against what I feel is right in that situation.
So, for uncrossable line circumstances, my answer would have to be - I'd let them know my stance on the task being asked, suggest that someone else can do it, and if needed find a new job (or happily go back to being retired).
