Maybe there's a reason why so many single people live there, Elycia Lee ☮. I know in the far north where people are drilling for oil in Alaska, there are many single people because it's harsh and families aren't "invited" to be in the area by the company but being alone for so long doesn't make for a good marriage. Or maybe there was a disease that wiped out a lot of your folks? Perhaps there's a social norm that they don't get married until X or unless Y and that's hard to meet. Or perhaps there's a new law that they can't get married until they have X amount of money or undergo some formal training to be a good spouse and people don't want to. Are any cohabitating? Alternately, you can just do a bunch of shotgun weddings and force your characters into arranged marriages. Just thoughts...
