I had a few lower word counts in the beginning of NaNo, like 300-400, I think. But then once I really got into the story, things really picked up. I'm now almost always doing 500+ and when in the real flow, 600+ in a mini. But that does include thinking about what's going to happen. I'm not sure if I'd do more words if I did the thinking during the mini, but didn't break in between. However, I think I'd be more likely to burn out, so I take the breaks.
