This can certainly work as an epilogue. I'd thought you perhaps intended to use it as a prologue would be problematic. If this is an epilogue, readers will know Vladimir's goals, stakes, and obstacles, so my comments on those are kind of irrelevant. It would be nice if the events in the epilogue were an echo of the plot in the longer novel.
