Form of the week: Slide Sonnet
by Dave Author IconMail Icon
The Slide Sonnet is an intriguing creation by Victoria Sutton, writing as "PassionsPromise" on the Allpoetry website.

The basic structure matches the Shakespearean Sonnet with three quatrains (four-line stanzas) followed by a rhyming couplet (two-line stanza). The thing that makes this form different is that there are eight syllables in each line instead of ten, and the first half of line one is repeated as the last half of line three in each quatrain. Several rhyming options are available, as described and demonstrated in the following link: http://everysonnet.blogspot.com/2012/11/slide-sonnet_28.html .

Let the creativity flow from your soul! *Cool*
