Form of the week: Philippic
by Dave Author IconMail Icon
Another form based on theme rather than structure, the Philippic is a tirade denouncing someone or something, originated by the Greek statesman Demosthenes in a series of speeches he made in 351 BC against the ambitions to expand Phillip II of Macedon entertained.

Here are a few examples in poetic form:

Daddy   by Sylvia Plath

Behaving Like a Jew   by Gerald Stern

A Simple Desultory Philippic (or How I Was Robert McNamara'd into Submission)   by Paul Simon

So, now comes your opportunity to rant and rave to your heart's content.

Let the creativity flow from your soul! *Cool*
