Hi Wordy Jay, I think, a good poem is a good poem and the verse form is secondary. Poets are supposed to be creative, not write cookie-cutter works. The idea behind honing our craft through writing in form is to expose ourselves to different writing techniques, condense, explore new words and take a path we may not have walked before in an attempt to improve our writing skills. As far as this invented form by an amateur poet, nothing was said about punctuation in the original description, so punctuation is at the discretion of the poet. Your poems have improved on the original. I especially love your first one. In poetic works, rules are just tools. The object of these exercises is to understand the rules, master the techniques contained within and create a poem that is first true to the poet's soul and second, demonstrates our understanding and mastery of the form. ~~Tink |
