My state (Idaho) has already done this. Originally, you had to be 21. Just a few months ago, they changed it to 18. My husband already has a concealed permit and he carries everywhere except work...he's not allowed to have his gun at school when he's teaching. I'm 100% for it. However, I know that attitudes in cities about this topic tend to vary from those in rural Idaho. But, things are different here in the country. Allowing citizens to have guns has not increased crime here. I feel safer knowing that my husband, who knows how to handle a weapon is ready to protect us if need be. So far, he hasn't needed to, maybe he never will, but his gun is there in his pocket holster ready to be used.
Guns are everywhere here. People are taught how to use them. We have hunter's safety classes, concealed carry classes, advanced concealed carry classes. There are shooting ranges all over the place. I think nothing of it if I go out in public and see someone open carrying. There are special conceal carry purses that women can buy and I see them all over. So, to me it's just part of my culture. We are VERY pro second amendment here.
