I do not disagree with you on the trust issue. But then in my case, that is precisely why I believe in free carry. The bad guys are not going to stop carrying because a law is passed prohibiting them from doing so. In Dallas Texas, in most cases, the police will take anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes to arrive after you call them. The criminals could have shot me and have driven at least a quarter of a mile by the time if I lived, for me to call them and have them heading in my direction, not the criminal's.
