I watched my wife of 45 years go the Alzheimer’s and dementia route and I detest the system that made her suffer like she did, her body so full of fluids she couldn’t breathe. They essentially choked her to death. I was to the point of helping her when she just gave up. There were times when would have gladly explained that to the deciders of the policy with a big open-ended wrench so they could experience it too.

I’m past t hat and I have a new life with a new love and we’ve discussed it. I want her to go first so she doesn’t have to go through losing me and she feels the same. I have several ways of insuring I won’t have to suffer that loss again for any length of time. No, I won’t leave a mess for my family, I don’t want them to remember me that way.
