A place for discussion on poetry, reviews, contests, etc. |
At first, it was just part of the job. On the way back from Vietnam, I was assigned to rewrite the Operations Manual, which was "published" to the Engineering Department of the USS Hornet. After I was discharged from the Navy, I was hired by Lockheed-Georgia Co. to write Time Compliance Technical Orders, which were "published" and distributed to field technicians in the Air Force. Later, in the corporate world, I wrote training material and reports for a global shipping company. All that time, I dreamed of doing something more creative, but could find neither the time nor the energy. When I retired, I thought about supplementing my pension by writing short fiction for Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine , but that plan got sidetracked after I read Edgar Allan Poe and got hooked on poetry. I have had several poems and short stories published in small press magazines, for which I received a copy of the magazine in payment. I have also written articles and essays for a local magazine, for which I was paid a nice little stipend until it went out of publication. Let the creativity flow from your soul!
