Wow, you sure had an interesting life, Dave -- from navy to poetry prof! For me, the writing done in school was mostly obligatory. The writing on WDC is to challenge and improve myself, but the social aspect of things keep the process fun.

Funnily enough, I've never had big dreams of being published. Though the idea of making money from my writing does sound very appealing.

I enjoy reading inspiring or thought-provoking pieces, so I guess I'd consider myself a "success" if I could produce something like that through my own writing.
