I don't exactly remember when and where I got this information. I will need to do some research to refresh my memory. The best I can do with this for right now is to share:

I remember reading information which stated that there are times when it is better to tell because this breaks up the structure which gives the reader a change, it also can make it easier to explain something which if done so through dialog could be awkward, or it could be more effective, easier, and best presented via a different approach rather than a drawn out showing or dialogue about the particular topic.
