Hi. NorthernWrites answered your first concern. No, gift points (GPs) are not required (or expected, for that matter) to be paid for requesting help. A lot of folks here give GPs to thank someone for any rendered service, though that is not required either. It's really up to the individual as to how he or she spends GPs.
