You have an interesting story idea, so that's why I've got ideas for it.. If you play this as the "second coming", then you don't have to so tightly stick to the bible-script for similarities. Instead, picture it as "what would Jesus do differently, this time around?" Perhaps present himself up as a superhero. That can fit with the original narrative that Jesus was mostly mundane until he stepped up at age 32 or so and got busy. how would he approach the problems of the world? Fighting small time crooks or taking our corrupt leaders or making the world's scarcity problems go away (imagine if he cured pollution, global warming, drought, famine). Once food is free and disease is gone, imagine how different factions in the world would react to that? How would all the non-christians feel to find out Jesus is real and their faith was wrong? How would the people who used to make money off of consumerism feel when there is no more scarcity, when people are free to be artists and such? Along with that, how does Maria feel, having her husband change and go do all this stuff. What about her? Heck, imagine telling the story from her perspective (the Gospel of Maria). Anyway, consider those angles, and maybe some plotting ideas will pop out. For a case of parallel ideas, my technomancer series, is about a one eyed wizard named Alex Rune, precisely because he represents Odin. So a different deity, but the same strategy of emulating a religious/historic figure. |
