Writing even just one flash fiction in 24 hours based on an often awkward prompt is something to proud of. I thoroughly enjoyed reading all you entries.

Combined the 93 flashes submitted came to 32520 words. That's an average of 350 words per flash. To put this in perspective, if you wrote 350 words everyday, you could write an 80K novel in 230 days.

Over the course of 31 days I awarded 310,000 GPs worth of prizes to the following Daily winners:

cmht - 13 wins
Matt Appleby Author Icon - 12 wins
Tobber Author IconMail Icon - 5 wins
Uncommonspirit Author IconMail Icon - 1 win

Of those 31 winners, me and a team of judges selected our top 5. They were:

"Invalid Item"   by A Guest Visitor
"Invalid Item"   by A Guest Visitor
"Invalid Item"   by A Guest Visitor
"Invalid Item"   by A Guest Visitor
"Invalid Entry by {suser_id:}

These were opened up to a public scoring card. From the scores awarded, a winner was selected.

But, before I announce the winner we have two members we need to give massive congratulations to.

Both cmht and Matt Appleby Author Icon completed all 31 days worth of flashes with fewer than 3 late entries. This is a massive achievement and as such they are both awarded a physical 25K awardicon on the folder/book containing their flashes and a physical FSFS merit badge.

Now, for the reason you are all reading this. It is time to announce the winner of the Best Flash Fiction. To add to the suspense I've put the result into a dropnote!

Best Flash Fiction Winner ▶︎

The winner is awarded their choice of either Shop: "Writing.Com Handcrafted Journal"  : Handcrafted journal with hard covers, handmade paper wrap and button/twine enclosure. or Shop: "Writing.Com Corrugated Journal"  : Handcrafted journal with corrugated covers and spiral binding. in the colour of their choice. Just let me know and I will get it ordered!

Congratulations to everyone who has won prizes, and remember, even if you did not win, you all did a great job writing to such specific prompts!
