A Jade Reminder

A jade reminder dangles somewhere,
Somewhere between the passing journey
And green exuberance of dream.

Crystal towers mirror twisting paths.
Rainbows chase ahead through many yesterdays,
Recede through future’s fickle trail.

A backward glance at velvet carpet;
Rolled demonstrative, extended red
In wealthy welcome, yet drawn asunder.

Worn from soldiers’ shoe, trod by scorn
Thread bare with exasperation
Marching pointless into countless battles.

The price of wealth be penny’s thorn.
Smile, rich as sunshine; laugh, a nurtured grace,
Its worth in warmth, for growth’s full face.

Embracing wonders, facing fears
In crystal casings many. Old map tracing,
Slow erasing, lines of heavy jaded tears.

Crystal dawn reflect tomorrow,
Cloud lectures warning wisely, forge ahead,
Velvet threads of scorn are past.
