Diabetes is a widespread disease, but can be controlled. Lets help each other beat it! |
Hi all! It's been a while since anything has been posted. I just got done watching Netflix's offering of The Tudor's. It is definitely an HBO-style series, rated 18+ or NC17, or whatever the ADULT THEME rating is... But that aside, I was reading about some of the history of Henry VIII's medical history. As a young man and young ruler, Henry was very athletic and outdoorsy...with probably an athlete's metabolism. That meant he could eat at the banquets and it not affect his weight. After becoming injured when older, he was not as active, but did not stop eating like an athlete. It is said that he probably had a 54 inch waist at the time of his death. He was inactive and obese, and this leads many to think it wasn't syphilis that was plaguing his mind and body, but that of untreated type II diabetes. The ulcering leg that wouldn't heal, the mood swings, and other physical conditions that he was reported to have seem to make a strong case for this diagnosis. Anyway, I thought I would share this with you, and see if anyone else has heard about this. Keep Fighting The Good Fight! sincerely, ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** |
