Ann and Webbie,

it seems to me that the general idea was to "assimilate" a culture that was considered inferior. How arrogant is it for any race of people to think that they're way is better simply because it's what they know. We may know now how important a diversity of culture is, but it obviously was lost on the early interlopers.
