Hello all! So far, the experience has been great for me. Like anything new, I needed to familiarize myself with the pages and forums, but now that I have a sense of direction, the requirements have solidified. I have a good understanding of what will be expected in the weeks to come, even if I'm not sure of the assignment content. I'm open to learning new things, so whatever comes my way will be welcome. I'm sure there will be challenging assignments, but without challenge, there's no growth. Hopefully, there won't be any physical growth after all that ice cream. It's really hard to maintain the figure with all that pie, ice cream, lasagna, and cookies. My hope is that I learn a lot of information that will give me a new understanding of the subject. I like participating in the forum, and I'm really enjoying the positive vibes. I have a lot of project involvement on Writing.com, so if I'm not participating as much at a particular time, it's because I have other activities to maintain. However, I will always fulfill my assignment goals, unless there is a completely random event that prevents me from doing so! I'll pop in to chat often. I naturally like to help and support where I can, so I'm always open to giving feedback and exchanging thoughts if time permits. My orientation essay was fun to write, but I had to give it a little thought before I completed it. I always give 100% to my undertakings, so it doesn't matter what the assignment or activity is, I'll give it a good effort. I like the emphasis that's placed on orientation and getting to know everyone. I think it paves a path for great friendship and communication. I've read all the orientation essays that have been submitted so far, and they've all been interesting. I think I've met everyone that's signed up for the class. I do have closer links with certain members because of other community activities that we participate in together, but I've landed myself with a great bunch of people. In Ann's essay she mentioned that we will learn more about other members, their countries, and the first-people from those countries, and I'm sure that will be the case. There seems to be a common thread between the treatment received by the Native Americans and the Aborigines -- Australia's first people. No doubt, there are facets unique to each, but the obvious theme is unfair treatment. I'm looking forward to more of this experience. Mandy |
