Looking at the bright side, at least my foot wasn't broken. And I would be able to staunch the bleeding. The tourniquet appeared to be in order. Of course, I might still die if I didn't manage to hike out, but that was the darker side, and we weren't looking there for the moment.
I had plenty of water, including a package of tabs that would clean up the stream that flowed beside me, flowing down. And even though my food was now at the bottom, I wasn't.
And I wasn't scared of heights. And I was warm. No cell reception, of course, but I had told them where I was going, and I should be missed soon. My foot didn't even hurt.
I loosened the tourniquet for a moment so I could bleed on the rocks on the theory that then maybe I wouldn't lose the it, and then checked the little bag at my waist. Yep, I even still had my meter. And there was plenty of blood to check so I wouldn't have to prick my finger in the dirt. Yes, there were plenty of bright sides here.
