This is a course on world building. It's like a major hobby of mine, and not only is it fun, but having and creating a solid setting for your book is essential ( even though we sometimes hate to admit it ) to having a good story. I will cover everything from the basics of planning your geographical setting to the people who inhabit it and the language they speak to the weather that plagues the area every year. So practically the course will give you the basics of how to create not only a world for your book but a footprint that makes yours unique.

Those who take the course will be required to make a map of their world, city, country, etc that they are creating (whether by drawing it or using a software program) and choose to do two or more of the following: create character maps for at least three of your main characters, make up a language and/or alphabet that is used in your world, make up two or more holidays that are celebrated in your world, tell about the government in one of your major cities/countries, write a timeline, or tell about the ethnic makeup of your world.

Graduates will receive a certificate of World Building Expertise and hopefully a World Building MB which I'm working on getting the Gps for. This will most likely be a long work in progress. I probably won't be able to open this class until sometime in the fall or early winter depending on how soon I can raise the Gps and get enough participants and teachers.
