I give it 5 stars The ebbing tide caresses my toes I hold in my hand a single red rose Memories of a romance that came to a close Something between us that nobody knows I cast the rose into the sea To watch it flow away from me Now that I am truly free Though I didn’t really want to be Another day, to numb the pain I stand on the shore amidst the rain I carry a letter of romantic bane Tears kiss the paper and sign with a stain I hold the paper out in my hand To end the sparks within the sand I slowly drop, unable to stand With pomp and blare, a finale grand I find myself in the shivering cold Wrapped in a soft blanket I hold The last memoir of our story told To all of the world, written in gold What is this object I hold in my hand? A simple golden wedding band. |
