Hello my friends; My family and I were considering to put a love one with dementia to a reputable Senior Citizen home. he was very ill so from hospital we transferred him to a good facility that is a rehab- senior citizen home-dementia with special doctors in it. During the rehab trial we noticed the following while we were there with the other patients 1) The nurses were few and overworked. 2) patients needs were being ignored. 3) we visited our love one during day time and evening time. This made the nurses and head nurses very unhappy. 4) when we walked in at 11AM although the nurses woke everyone up at 8A.M to give them their breakfast, the love one was not changed and cleaned. 5) The nurses and head nurses did ignore the doctor's request to give the patient specific medication on the specific time of the day and refused to accept the medication from the family. 6) The senior citizen home was after the love ones retirement money to take it away from him and deposit it to their own bank account. There in the family meeting, we decided that it is not easy to take care of a dementia patient but everyone is in need of respect and dignity even the dementia one. Therefore, we took him out of the place before it gets to late. We do not know how long this relative of ours will live. But I am everyone in the family is agree with me that we shall do the best we can to provide him the best of the care that we can give him and most importantly he with die in peace in his home when the time comes and we all shall have a clear conscious for ever. Until we meet again next week. Sincerely, Zheila . |
