OK I lost a big chunk once because I "thought" I saved it and it didn't. I knew the Number count So I just copied from another story that many words and pasted for the day. When I started the rewrite I deleted the inserted # and was back on schedule. I Knew I wrote them. Its about me and posting what I did. I felt better about it and I went on writing with a happy face and didn't feel like I was "catching up" Even though I was when it came to the story. I save in two places. WDC (on a private item) and on my laptop. I can pull either up and be good.
Don't beat yourself (or your kid) for it. That's what WDc is for. paste it here and you will always have a back up. Think of Wdc as your safety net. Why use dropbox or cloud or other things when you are already here for everything else including support. Just do what one of the other's above said. Pick up your story at the next chapter and go on. You can fill in that part later.
