Hi Prairie, and welcome to WDC.

If you're confused, consider yourself one of the many WDC members. All of us get confused at one time or another. The StoryMaster Author Icon is always tweaking the site to make it the best writing site ever, and sometimes he really gets ahead of the rest of us. *Delight*

I was exactly like you some five years ago--dazed and confused about the workings of this site. But I poked my nose into lots of nooks and crannies, determined to learn how things worked. Trial and error is a great teacher if you have the time. I just set aside some time each day for my journeys--even 15 minutes can be a huge eye-opener.

Remember, most folks here are willing to share their experiences on a specific query you may have. Never hesitate to ask in one of the Help forums: "Non-Technical Support Forum" Open in new Window. or "Technical Support Forum" Open in new Window..
