James kissed Rana as the door closed behind Ayanna. Rana giggled and kissed him back. "What did she want?" James asked. "She was worried. She'd heard about the police. She knows I have feelings for you, but doesn't know we are together. She thinks we are just friends." "You didn't tell her?" James asked. He dug into his pocket and pulled out a gold chain showing it to her. "I thought we wanted to wait." She gasped. "It's beautiful." "I wasn't sure. I'm glad I didn't say anything." He slipped the chain into her hand. "For later. The necklace you have on is beautiful." "For me?" she asked, taking the chain. "For you," James said softly then slid his ring off and held it out to her. "It won't go with your outfit right now." "But it's more precious. I'll put it on under my shirt. Please?" "If you want," James said. He wore a proud smile. "I've never considered giving to anyone before." "Never?" she asked, slipping the ring on the chain. She smiled. "Help me?" "Nobody has ever meant this much to me before." He took the chain to help her. "That makes me feel so special." "Yu are special, Rani," James whispered, kissing the back of her neck as he clasped the chain together. "Never change." "I love you James!" James chuckled and turned her to face him. "How much?" he teased. Rana did something she'd never done. She kissed him deeply. James was taken by surprise but loved it. His hands moved to her waist and his eyes closed kissing her back. Rana slowly closed her eyes sinking into the kiss. James could feel his heartbeat picking up speed. God he loved her. He pulled her closer, his arms encircling her. Rana sighed, stepping closer. James forced himself to pull back when he felt his control slipping. He let the kiss trail off slowly, his arms letting go. "You amaze me," he whispered. Rana blushed shyly. "I do?" "I thought you might be scared, think it was too soon..." James whispered, his eyes searching hers. "You'll never hurt me," she stated. James shook his head. "Never," he promised. "If I do, I hope that will be the day I die." "And I'll never hurt you." James kissed her again softly. "Of course you won't, you've saved me." "You saved me too." James slid his hand around hers. "Let's go, love. We can discuss saving and love on the way if you want." Rana giggled. "I bet Darren would complain about it being mushy." "You have no idea. He would pretend to gag then pass out." Rana smirked. "We should bug him!" James laughed. "If you want to." "I think it will be funny!" "Then we will. After our date, okay?" He walked with her toward his car. "Tonight, it's just us." "Okay," she smiled. "Just us." James opened the door and let her in then bent and kissed her. "I promise you a good date." Rana sighed. "I can't wait." James straightened and made sure she was in before closing her door. He looked around feeling as if he was being watched then got in and headed for the diner. Rana smiled. She flipped to a classical station and studied her boyfriend. James beamed at her choice of stations. "Have you ever danced to this song?" Rana smiled at him. "No, but it looks to be a good one." James drove carefully away from the school. "You would love it, I think." "I'll have to try." "Mmhmmm," James said looking back in the rearview mirror. "I'd love to see you in costume." He focused on the road ahead, steeling his expression. "You're still coming to my recital, right?" James turned his head looking toward her in surprise. "Yes, did you think I wasn't?" "Most guys wouldn't," she said quietly and smiled. "I'm just saying because I'll be in costume then." James laughed a little. "Yes, I forgot. The costumes would be different, but you would still be in one." He looked back at the road and drove on, thinking. Rana studied him. "Honey? Is something wrong? You seem distracted." James jumped a little. "Wrong? No, nothing's wrong per se. I just get the feeling we aren't alone is all." "You think someone is following us?" "I can't tell. I mean I didn't see anyone, no cars or anything, but I just feel like it," James said over a crescendo in the music. "I'll protect you." "Feelings are usually correct and I know you will." She kissed his cheek. "Let's just enjoy our date." James took her hand in his. "Thank you for not calling me crazy." They came in sight of a brightly lit building. "Here we are." "I could never think that of you," she smiled. "It looks cute."James parked and came around to get her out. As they walked inside the feeling left and he relaxed. A woman came up to them, placing leis around their necks. Rana smiled looking around. She giggled. James lifted it and smelled it, squinting one eye shut. "So strong," he mumbled. They were led to a private area after being asked their names. Rana sighed. "This is nice." He stepped beside and pulled out the chair. "Please sit," he asked. Rana smiled and sat. "Thank you." She smiled lovingly. James sat down beside her sliding in. "Yes, thank you," he told the server holding the menus. Rana smiled at James and thanked the server as the menus were handed to them. "I hope you enjoy the show," she said. She paused then nodded as a voice announced the play was beginning. Rana didn't realize there was a show. She looked questioningly at James, then looked at the stage. |
