Rana smiled. "I could use a nap."

"I'll wake you," James promised as Vince pulled up to them. He opened the back door. "The ride home is definitely not as scary."

"Thank you," Rana said quietly.

James helped her in then went around and sat next to her. He gave her a tender smile then moved his arm so she could snuggle next to him.Rana smiled and snuggled up to him, yawning.

James kissed the top of her head and put his arm around her. He looked toward the front to see Vince watching in the rearview mirror. "We're all set."

Vince drove thm back to the police station slowly, finding a classical station on the radio.

Rana sighed. She closed her eyes and fell asleep.

James made sure she was comfortable before resetting his alarm for two hours. "That was close, Vince," he said.

Rana sighed, sleeping. It wasn't long before she began talking in her sleep.

Vince pulled into the police station parking lot and got out. He opened the door and James handed him the keys he'd dug out of pocket, careful not to wake her. Vince smiled and opened the back door of the mustang. James carefully moved her to his car and buckled her in. "I'm glad you liked the movie," he said to her mumbled words.

Rana smiled in her sleep, mumbling about the ballroom scene.

"You are a romantic heart, baby," James said. He kissed her and moved around the car waving goodbye to Vince. He got in and buckled up, driving home.

Rana didn't stir and slept, enjoying her dream.

James pulled into a parking space and looked at her sleeping peacefully. "I wonder what you see in me," he murmured and kissed her again. He got her out, ready to carry her home. He realized he didn't have her keys. "Rana, baby, can you wake up just for a bit?"

Rana stirred rubbing her eyes sleepily. She looked at him expecting to be at his house. She yawned, laying her head against his chest.

"It's not two hours yet, but I don't have your keys. Your purse is in my trunk." He kissed her head. "You were sleeping so well, I hated to disturb you."

Rana yawned. "Keys are in purse."

"Let's get your purse then, love. I want you to be comfortable." He moved to the trunk and set her on her feet so he could get her purse.

"I am with you," she yawned.

James smiled and got her purse from the trunk and held it out to her then slid the bag of goodies over his arm, shut the trunk and picked her back up.

Rana yawned, taking her purse and digging for her keys.

"Do you always dream in cartoon?" James asked as he carried her toward her house. He noticed again how light she was, almost like she wasn't there at all.

Rana blushed, "Not always," she whispered.

James smiled tenderly. "You were talking in your sleep about the ballroom scene in Beauty & the Beast." He was already close to her house.

Rana turned red. "You heard me talking in my sleep?"

James nodded. "It's cute. I used to do that too." He kissed her head gently. "I won't tell."

Rana flushed. "Our secret?"

"Our secret," James agreed. He paused in front of her door. "It seems like we have a lot of secrets for such a new relationship."

"I know, we haven't been together long."

"No secrets from each other?" James said.

"None, I want our relationship built on trust."

James let her unlock her door and open it then carried her inside. "Me too. I hate pretending everything is fine when it isn't."

"Me too, I want this relationship to work."

James set her down on her couch and knelt in front of her. "Rana, let me tell you something and it can't go any further, alright?" He held her hand in his.

Rana gazed at him. She smiled. "Okay."

"How far back in your childhood can you clearly remember?" James whispered.

"What do you mean? I guess I can remember back to seven."

James nodded subconsciously. "I have a memory of when I was very small and in that memory I don't fear my father. It makes me wonder when I started and why."

"Something changed maybe?"

He nodded again. "Before my 6th birthday party. I know that because when he showed up I hid. I guess whatever happened I've blocked it."

"Maybe we need to unblock it so you can come to terms with it."

"Maybe," James said softly. "But right now you need some sleep."

"Will you tuck me in?" she asked.

"Yes, I'll stay with you till you fall back to sleep too," James whispered. He rose up on his knees and kissing her.

Rana smiled. "Thank you, James."

James caressed her cheek. "No problem, baby."

Rana sighed. "You mean the world to me."

James rose. "You mean the world to me too." He pulled her to her feet. "Let's get you to bed."

Rana blushed. "Okay," she said shyly.

James saw her blush. "I promise not to try anything, Rana." he whispered. "I'll only tuck you in and keep watch."

"I know, I trust you." She smiled.

James put his arm around her. "I'm so glad, Rani."

Rana smiled as they entered her room. What would her father say?

James looked to her bed then her. "Do you want to change into something else first?"

"Yeah, I guess I'd be more comfortable."

James kissed her cheek and let go of her waist. "I'll be in the livingroom till you're ready."

Rana smiled. "Thank you, James."

"It's what I would want if we were reversed he said. He favored her with his crooked grin then left the room humming "Beauty & the Beast."

Rana sighed. He was incredible. She shut the door, changing into her favorite pajamas before going into the living room.

James stood looking at a photograph of her and her father, his hands clasped behind his back when she came into the room. His lips moved silently as if speaking to it and she didn't know she was in the room.

Rana watched him. "James?"

James jumped, his hands coming undone and spun around in surprise. "I...didn't hear you," he said. "Um, ready to be tucked in?"

Rana nodded slowly. "Yes."

James gave her a nervous smile. "Okay, let's get you tucked in." He gestured to the picture. "I'm not crazy, if you are worried I talk to pictures."

Rana giggled. "I never thought you were."

James narrowed his eyes in a teasing way. "Mhmm, you were probably ready to call the men with the white jackets on me." He took her hand. "You look comfy."

"Never! No one takes you from me!" She smiled. "Very."

"Oh, a jacket for two then?" He took her other hand and pulled her into a waltz position. "A dance before bed?"

Rana giggled. "I'd like that."

James kissed her nose and moved in a small circle with her in her livingroom humming the music.

Rana laughed laying her head on is shoulder.

James slowly ended the dance but instead of letting her go, he picked her up. "I was asking permission," he said carrying her into her room.

"Permission for what?" she whispered.

"To court you. I know it sounds absurd and I didn't get an answer of any kind, but I was trying to imagine what it would have been like, what he'd demand."

"That is so sweet." She gazed at him lovingly. "He'd want you to treasure me."

"I do, Rani," James whispered laying her on her bed.

Rana gazed at him. "I love you," she whispered.

James smiled softly at her. "I love you too." He kissed her mouth softly yet claiming her as his own all in one.

Rana sighed and returned his kiss.

James finally pulled away, his hand caressing her cheek. "Dream of great things," he whispered.

Rana smiled. "I'll dream of you," she murmured.
